It makes me uncomfortable to think that 33% of all my male friends and family will statistically be diagnosed with testicular or prostate cancer. So I am doing what I can to raise awareness and donations to fix this.
I've done this since 2009 and I see that it works. E.g. Movember uses the funds we give them, to coordinate global research initiatives and share it with all researchers. This approach significantly reduces the duplication of efforts and hoarding of information for commercial purposes.
- One of the recent break throughs are that Movember funded research has discovered that men have a genetic “fingerprint” within their prostate cancer cells which will help build a more tailored treatment plan for men. This will help avoid overtreatment and side effects.
